For years now I’ve dabbled with my piece of a vision; a vision that I know is a “God thing” (blue sky) . I know this is true because of the way it has come together. There are many “power brokers/gateways” who have shared their expertise, ideas, and concepts. I also know this vision is a “God thing” because it won’t ever be accomplished without relying totally on God.
It’s the lack of money that has caused both this vision to falter and my heart’s desire to meet with reality. Like most, I have family responsibilities (mortgage, etc.); I simply cannot spend full-time doing what I know is what God wants me to do. Both time and money are true measurements of one’s committment so let me point out that over time many of those who share this vision have spent nearly all their savings in pursuit of this dream. We have “loved the Lord with all our hearts, souls, minds, and strength” and we’ve been “waiting on the Lord”. Regardless, try as I might, I just cannot rid myself of the compulsion to just “get ‘er done”.
This vision has been given a name: Power to Change DC. While it can be stated simply, it cannot be executed with simplicity. This is the vision I bought into: “Create a sustainable movement within our metro area where individuals and communities are transformed by the power of Jesus Christ.”
Since last September others have challanged me to seek clarity on what it means to follow Jesus and operate on all four cylinders ( heart, soul, time, strength). I’ve repeatedly cried and asked God:
(a) “if not Power to Change DC than what is it I’m supposed to do?
(b) “if Power to Change DC is it than what is it I can do?”
At the very top of my Christmas list was Mark Batterson’s new book Primal. Reading Primal was a “wow moment”. Little sentences seemed to pierce my heart and nudge something in me that caused the Power to Change DC vision to take on a whole new manifestation. My “what” questions were suddenly answered. I had a revelation (blue print)!
A new part of my journey with Jesus has begun. This blog has taken on a whole new meaning and the title MultiChurchDC seems so right. I hope you will stay tuned and be a part of my journey.
